A Better Way to Train for Threat Assessment
Early in my career, firearms instructors set up a scenario where they had a dummy in an automobile, and I was to move to the vehicle and engage the threat. As I approached the car, the instructor yelled, “He’s got a gun!” I instinctively fired my weapon, striking the target only to learn the dummy was holding a wallet.
I was embarrassed and then got angry, not at the instructor but with myself. MotoShot provides a training platform that allows the student to error and study and correct the errors made. For instance, an officer can be confronted with the MotoShot Robot – firearm at the ready. The instructor can confront the student with conflicting messages forcing the student to assess the threat, evaluate the proper weapon choice, choose the appropriate weapon, confirm the weapon choice, and deploy the weapon.
MotoShot can be equipped with various weapons and movement choices, ensuring the student’s weapon choice was the correct one.
The instructor can also force the student to transition multiple times to a variety of weapons and use the MotoShot Robot to stress the student and, in short, cause a response, good or bad.
