"USE OF FORCE" THREAT MANAGEMENT TRAINER
PROPER USE OF FORCE
“Placing students in realistic scenarios, based on solid research, allows them the best chance for survival and success when they face similar situations in the field.”
“Agencies routinely require re qualification with firearms, but officers seldom receive follow-on training to accurately articulate their decisions to use reasonable force. Failing to reinforce the force options and articulation skills places the officer in an unenviable and unfortunate situation. Trainers can avoid this by instituting simple formal training scenarios or roll call training that reinforce the proper use of force and allows officers to effectively articulate their decisions. This builds consistency and confidence.”

"Decision making at its most basic is shoot / don't shoot drills. Decision making becomes more complex when training moves beyond shoot / don't shoot, towards when to shoot, how much to shoot, when to stop shooting. Decision making is a complex and complicated, Officers must be constantly assessing a situation or scenario, and make split second decisions based on their training and experience."Dave Spaulding - ILEETA’s 2010 Law Enforcement Trainer of the Year
